Autism Evaluations

Parents that are concerned about their child's development or suspect Autism often find that there are extremely long wait lists for a comprehensive evaluation. Local hospitals and clinics have waiting lists of up to 2 years! It is frustrating and upsetting to have to wait that long to get an answer. That's why we have formed an inter-disciplinary team to help alleviate those wait times.  Get the answers you seek in a much quicker time frame!

Our team provides a complete and comprehensive evaluation.  Most evaluations will take place over 2 or more visits.  Your child will be evaluated by the Psychologist, the Speech-Language Pathologist, and in most cases, the Occupational Therapist.  Depending on your child's individual needs we may recommend a Physical Therapy evaluation as well.  By using a team of professionals we ensure that all skill areas and developmental concerns are assessed, including behavioral, cognitive, speech and language, social skills, sensory, and fine/gross motor skills.  This way, you will recieve a complete picture of your child's strengths and weaknesses and recommendations, and will be able to make educated decisions regarding your child's interventions.  You will receive a report with all of the results and recommendations.  Often we are able to tell you at the end of the appointments which way the results may lean.

We use standardized, objective assessment tools in our evaluations.  Evaluations may include:

ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)

ADI (Autism Diagnostic Interview)

PLS-5 (Preschool Language Scales)

TOLD-P-5 (Test of Language Development)

BOT (Bruininicks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency)

Beery VMI (Test of Visual Motor Integration)

Sensory Profile

Observations

Parent Interviews

Play Based Clinical Assessments

We are working with several insurance companies to be able to accept insurance for these evaluations. Currently we can take Anthem and Medical Mutual for the Speech and Occupational Therapy portions of the evaluation. We anticipate being able to get the Psychologist portion covered around mid September. Does that mean you need to wait? No! You can pay out of pocket and recieve a superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider. Or call us and ask to be put on the list so you are our first call when we can accept insurance!
